GETTING READY FOR TERM 1 TRAINING

25 Jan by NSWACT XC

Welcome 2024! Here is hoping for a year of fine weather, just the right amount of rain, no new bush fires and a perfect winter to come.

Many of the XC community are enjoying northern winters now. Alexei is managing several groups of young XC skiers through training and international competition. Other groups are participating at the Youth Olympic Games in Korea Republic, Masters World Cup in Finland and elsewhere. Best of luck and wishes for a lot of fun go out to all, wherever they are skiing!

Those of us at home can prepare for the coming Australian winter by staying fit and improving skills. Term One XC training is being planned in Sydney and Canberra with the running track available at the Jindabyne NSTC (Sport and Rec) for rollerskiing practice. Details of training opportunities will be circulated as they become available.

In the meantime, go to the NSWACT XC Store and:
• Purchase your 2024 NSWACT XC Registration (includes a general training plan provided by Alexei and available in Team App Member Documents).
• Purchase the Remote Training item to guide you through June (includes communication with Alexei about your personal training requirements).

If you still have a $50 × 2023 NSW Active Kids Voucher (AKV), you can use it in the Store to purchase either 2024 Registration or Remote Training BY 30 JANUARY (AT THE ABSOLUTE LATEST!). That will be the last opportunity to use AKVs for Snow Australia activities. The 2024 AKVs will not apply to Snow Australia programs.

For another way to train, check out the photo of Virpi and Yvie sandskiing – evidently sand conditions are variable and much like Australian snow – a thing to consider and plan for!
