@ MEET WILLIAM
William Haig, arriving early in June from Middlebury Vermont, is the 2024 NSWACT XC Winter Coach.
A dozen interesting applications were received and William was clearly the best fit for the NSWACT XC winter programs. He is an experienced XC coach who has coached Juniors to high levels of US competition and has, himself been a successful competitive skier. His coaching references were excellent.
Like most XC skiers, William has a wide range of interests. In addition to XC coaching, he is a bicycle mechanic, cross country runner, mountain runner and mountaineer. He has received academic honours and majored in Photography at Montana State University. He is continuing his university education.
When asked for some interesting information about himself, aside from that included in his CV, William provided these gems,
• I think what would be interesting to know is that I love photography, especially alternative process printing. It is somewhat of a combination of photography and painting.
• My family has two poodles that I love to ski with and will miss them dearly.
• I think it’s important to talk about having dyslexia. Having a learning difference has allowed me to look at the big picture, then break it down into minute detail, visualize how changing that detail would affect the whole, then zoom back out to the whole.
• The coach I look up to the most is Sverre Caldwell. He’s coached many Olympians and US national team members, but never lost sight of ensuring the whole person grows, not just the athlete.

@ LOOKING FOR ACCOMMODATION
