XC WORK PARTY 5 16/17 May 2026 – THE BIG ONE! (& Other News)
This is the weekend that sees the XC trails set up for winter (Alexei assures us that Winter will start on Monday 8 June!).
• Halfpipes and covers will be installed over water courses and covers attached to the bridges – all light colours so they will hold the snow as the water runs away underneath.
• The last of the broken trail marking poles and sighter posts will be replaced.
• The Nordic Shelter and surrounds will be cleaned and tidied – not quite ready for opening but poised for the moment that it is required.
This is the last and most important scheduled XC Work Party of the summer, so the more hands the better. Note, there is an option for a June work party, if necessary, but we would really rather that it snows so much that we have to ski instead!

nswxc1@gmail.com). Bring work boots, work gloves, PPE, work clothes for any weather, lunch and snacks, crockery and cutlery. The hot water urn, sandwich press, microwave, coffee and tea are available at the Shelter. Plan to arrive at 8:30 for a 9:00am start.
Overnight accommodation in Perisher is available for all XC Work Partiers, generously provided by Canberra Alpine Club. If you require accommodation on Friday and/or Saturday night, please contact Margaret Mahoney (
margmahoney61@gmail.com). Bring bed linen, towels and food/drink for meals – Saturday night dinner is always an interesting social occasion!

When you arrive to drop off your items on Friday, 8 May (between 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm), all item details will already be lodged, and we’ll print the paperwork and labels for you on arrival.
After the sale on Saturday, May 9, any unsold equipment must be picked up between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Unfortunately, unsold items cannot be donated, so be sure to collect them within this window.

VERY, VERY IMPORTANT - WINTER ACCOMMODATION NEEDED
Winter accommodation is needed urgently for NSWACT XC’s newly engaged 2026 Winter Coach. Ingrid Norton, from Boise Idaho, will be working with Alexei this winter to give NSWACT XC athletes of all ages, abilities and aspirations the best winter’s training and experience ever.
Ingrid is an accomplished XC coach with a wide range of skills and qualifications. She would be anyone’s perfect tenant.
